Lansing, MI Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Section 1310.11(a)(7) of the Lansing Codified Ordinances lets property owners put up additional temporary signs leading up to and following any official local, county, state, or federal election or referendum. These signs cannot sit in the public right-of-way and cannot block visibility at a street or driveway intersection. They're capped at six square feet in area or three feet in height. Once the election passes, the sign must be removed within ten calendar days. This election carve-out sits alongside, and is separate from, Lansing's general temporary-sign allowance in Section 1310.11(a)(1).
