McCracken County, KY Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

McCracken County Code § 30.01 establishes an electioneering-free zone within 100 feet of the main entrance of any building containing a polling place on election day, barring the displaying of signs, distribution of literature, and solicitation of votes inside that zone. The section then carves out a specific exception for political signage: nothing in § 30.01 prohibits the displaying of political bumper stickers on privately owned vehicles or political signs on private property or a private establishment by a person with a leased or ownership interest in that property.

This applies within the campaign-free zone regardless of distance from the polling place, provided the sign is not accompanied by a person, does not emit any sound, is not audio-visual or mechanical, and is no larger than four square feet. Enforcement at the polls, within 100 feet of the main entrance, falls to any Precinct Election Officer, the County Clerk, a Deputy County Clerk, or any law enforcement official, who may request assistance from other officers. Polling location grounds, buildings, sidewalks, and parking lots are designated non-public forums on election day under subsection (C), meaning general public-forum sign rights do not apply there.
