Under Article 8.0 (Signs) of the Larimer County Land Use Code, temporary election campaign signs do not require a permit. Any number of 'Election Signs' may be placed on a property for 60 days prior to a state, local or national election. Temporary signs may not exceed 6 feet in height and 8 square feet in area on residentially zoned property (6 feet and 32 square feet on non-residential property). Article 8.2.4 prohibits signs on or over public roads or rights-of-way and on natural features, landscaping, trees, rocks, utility or light poles. Signage exceeding the allowance outside election periods must be removed within five days after the election.
Signs illegally placed in road rights-of-way may be removed without notice by the Road and Bridge Department or Code Compliance.
