Salt Lake City Sign Ordinance Chapter 21A.46 treats political and other noncommercial temporary signs content-neutrally consistent with the Supreme Court Reed v. Gilbert decision. Signs may be placed on private property with owner consent and are generally limited to 8 square feet per sign in residential zones and 32 square feet in nonresidential zones. Signs cannot be placed in the public right-of-way, on utility poles, or on medians. They should be removed within 7 days after the election or event they relate to. Signs may not obstruct sight triangles at intersections or driveways.
