Section D3-47(B) treats window signs as a distinct category from wall or roof signs. The core limit is a percentage test: the total area of every window sign on a wall, counting both permitted signs and the smaller exempt signs allowed under Section D3-45, cannot exceed 20 percent of that tenant's window area on that wall. A separate exemption inside Section D3-45(M) lets incidental signs with letters no taller than three inches count toward, but stay within, that same 20 percent ceiling, while requiring the bottom third of the window to stay clear for law enforcement and private security sightlines regardless of how the sign area is used.

Section D3-47(B) also requires window signs to be fabricated to the highest standards of sign design and construction and prohibits positioning that obscures indoor activity from outside view for security purposes. Tenants that want a larger promotional or advertising presence in the window can instead use the temporary advertising/promotional window sign exemption in Section D3-45(A), which allows a temporary display for up to 21 consecutive days each calendar quarter without counting against the permanent 20 percent cap, provided it is removed after the event it announces.
