Dearborn residents may post No Soliciting signs that legally bar commercial solicitors, and solicitors who ignore them are subject to citation and trespass charges.
Although Dearborn does not maintain a centralized No-Knock Registry like some Michigan cities, residents may post a clearly visible No Soliciting or No Trespassing sign at their front entrance or driveway to prohibit commercial solicitors from approaching the home. Under the city solicitor ordinance and Michigan trespass law, MCL 750.552, once such a sign is posted or once an occupant has asked a solicitor to leave, further solicitation at that address is prohibited and subject to citation and possible misdemeanor trespass charges. Religious, political, and nonprofit canvassers retain First Amendment protections, but may also be asked to leave. Violations can be reported to Dearborn Police through the non-emergency line.
