DuPage County, IL Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

m. m. Central Daylight Time while it's in effect; violating the hours draws a fine of $50 to $1,000 per offense. Sections 24-4 and 24-5 build the opt-out registry on top of those hours. Section 24-4 declares it county policy that residents of any area outside a municipality's corporate limits decide for themselves whether solicitors may approach their home at all. Section 24-5 implements that policy with a physical card system: a resident posts a roughly 3-inch by 4-inch card near the main entrance reading "NOTICE: NO SOLICITORS INVITED, DU PAGE COUNTY ORDINANCE PS-0009-97, ENACTED AUGUST 26, 1997," with lettering at least one-third of an inch tall; the Sheriff supplies these cards on request.

Every solicitor is required to check for that card before approaching a residence outside a municipality and must immediately and peacefully leave if it says "No Solicitors Invited," and must likewise leave immediately when any occupant asks them to, invited or not. Section 24-6 makes disregarding the posted card, soliciting outside the permitted hours, using a false pretense about the visit's purpose, misrepresenting cancellation rights, blocking traffic, or using sound amplification equipment while soliciting all unlawful nuisance acts in their own right. Section 24-7 sets the penalty backing the whole chapter, including these provisions: a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $1,000 per offense, with each day a violation continues charged as a separate offense.
