Greenwood, IN Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Sec. 4-108 of the Greenwood General Ordinances, part of Division VIII on peddlers, solicitors, transient merchants, street vendors and mobile food trucks, gives residents two layers of protection. First, it is unlawful for any peddler or solicitor to enter, attempt to enter, or fail to immediately leave a property after the owner or occupant asks them to leave. Second, any occupant who wants to exclude commercial peddlers and solicitors may post an easily readable notice on or near the main or front entrance, which can exclude all peddlers and solicitors or just a class of them; every peddler and solicitor has a duty to look for that notice before approaching.

Once a 'No Peddlers/Solicitors' or 'No Solicitation' sign is prominently displayed, no peddler or solicitor may ring the doorbell, knock on any door or window, or attempt a sale or solicitation at that address. Separately, Sec. 4-108(e) bars all peddler and solicitor activity on residential properties between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., regardless of signage. Sec. 4-109 sets a general fine of $50 to $2,500 per offense for Division violations, but singles out Sec. 4-108 violations for the maximum $2,500 fine, with a separate offense deemed committed for each property where a violation occurs, and each day of a continuing violation counted separately.
