New Berlin Code § 152-5 H(1) lists the prohibited practices for every direct seller licensed under the chapter, covering peddlers, canvassers and mobile vendors alike. , except by appointment, so an unscheduled knock after dark or before morning is itself a violation regardless of the resident's wishes. Subsection (f) layers a second, address-specific protection on top of the hours rule: no permit holder may call at, or in any way solicit at, a dwelling where a sign has been posted indicating that solicitation is generally not permitted or is restricted to particular hours, and the sign only has to be placed where it is reasonably calculated to give the seller notice.

Together the two rules mean a resident can rely on the citywide evening curfew even without posting anything, and can go further with a posted sign to keep solicitors off the property entirely or restrict them to specific hours. The Chief of Police receives reports of convictions under § 152-5 I, and the City Clerk notes each violation on the seller's registration record, feeding into possible license revocation under § 152-5 J after notice and a Council hearing.
