Redding, CA Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

22 of the Redding Municipal Code covers soliciting and peddling citywide. 010 requires anyone who visits a dwelling to solicit orders, peddle goods or hawk merchandise to first obtain a business license and a peddler's and solicitor's registration card from the city clerk; the requirement sits on top of the general business license duty in Title 6. 020 spells out what the application must contain: the solicitor's name, home and local address, phone number, the company represented, the type of merchandise or service offered, and photo identification from the applicant's state of residence.

Anyone soliciting must carry the validated card and photo ID at all times and produce both immediately if a resident or a Redding police officer asks. 030 is the no-knock rule itself: once a sign in clear view bars solicitation or peddling at a house, continuing to solicit, peddle, hawk goods, or conduct 'any charitable or other solicitation' there is unlawful, and a sign that reads either 'No Soliciting' or 'No Peddling' blocks both kinds of activity. 030: a posted sign stops charitable canvassers too.

040 puts enforcement in the hands of the chief of police, Redding police officers, and any enforcement officer the city manager designates, who pursue violations through civil, criminal or administrative process under Title 1 of the code.
