Ridgewood prohibits any peddling, soliciting, or canvassing between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. and bars solicitors from approaching homes that post a clear no-solicitation notice.
Chapter 218 of the Ridgewood Village Code makes it unlawful for any peddler, solicitor, or canvasser to ply their trade or solicit between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. on any day. Solicitors must also respect posted no-solicitation or no-trespass signs at residences, and may not enter any property where such notice is reasonably visible. The chapter complements the registration requirements and is enforced by the Police Department in coordination with the Village Clerk.
Soliciting outside permitted hours, or ignoring posted no-solicitation signs, can lead to citations, fines, and revocation of any registration certificate. Repeat offenders may face additional penalties.
