Rochester Hills, MI Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 78-93, in chapter 78's division on operating requirements for charitable, religious, and political solicitors, sets a hard curfew: no door-to-door solicitation on private property between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., with an exception only for invitees. The same division backs that curfew with a posted-property rule at section 78-99, which forbids any door-to-door solicitation at any time, even during permitted hours, wherever a 'No Solicitors,' 'No Trespassing,' or similar notice is posted, again unless the solicitor is an invitee. Two more sections give residents control once a solicitor is already on the property: section 78-100 makes it unlawful for a solicitor to remain after being directed to quit the premises by anyone lawfully in possession, and section 78-101 requires a solicitor to 'immediately and peacefully cease' as soon as the person being solicited indicates, in any manner, a wish for the solicitation to stop.

The same division also bars solicitors from blocking traffic (section 78-95), touching or accosting the public without permission (section 78-96), shouting or using amplification to draw attention (section 78-97), and making fraudulent or misleading representations (section 78-98). A nearly identical set of hours, posted-property, and leave-on-request rules applies separately to commercial itinerant merchants under sections 78-198, 78-204, and 78-205.
