Under the city's Itinerant Vendor and Solicitor regulations (Chapter 16, Article IV, Sec. 16-171 through 16-184), home solicitation hours are strictly limited. Soliciting is unlawful before 10:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. of any day, Monday through Saturday. Soliciting is also prohibited at any time on Sundays, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Solicitation on city-owned property, including streets and rights-of-way, is prohibited unless authorized by a written agreement with the City. Solicitors must wear their city-issued badge while working, and residents may report violators to Code Compliance at 832-595-3500.
Knocking on doors before 10 a.m., after 5 p.m., on Sundays, or on listed holidays is a Class C misdemeanor under the home solicitation chapter and grounds for revoking the city permit.
