Royal Oak, MI Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Article V, Peddling, requires every peddler to carry not just a license but a current copy of the Do Not Knock Registry, under § 526-33(B); § 526-38 directs the City Clerk to establish and maintain that registry. Any lawful occupant of a Royal Oak residence, house, apartment or dwelling can add their address to the registry by submitting a written form to the City Clerk identifying the property and stating that peddlers should not knock, ring the doorbell, or otherwise call there, and can likewise request removal at any time using a parallel form.

The registry lapses on a periodic basis unless the occupant renews it, and the City Clerk must give each licensed peddler a current copy, keep it open for public inspection at the Clerk's office, and post it on the City's website. Section 526-40 backs the registry with two related street-level rules: Subsection B bars a licensee from entering any address that has posted a 'No Solicitation' sign or that sits on the Do Not Knock Registry unless the occupant has separately invited the peddler onto the premises, and Subsection D bars any licensee from calling at any Royal Oak residence before 10:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. except by the occupant's prior arrangement. The City disclaims liability for any failure to add or remove an address from the registry.
