Licensed solicitors must immediately leave any property displaying a No Soliciting sign; violations are misdemeanors under Chapter 5.64.
Under Salt Lake City Code 5.64, it is unlawful for any solicitor subject to licensing to knock on the door, ring the doorbell, or otherwise disturb the occupant of a residence that displays a conspicuous No Soliciting, No Peddlers, or similar sign. The sign must be readable at the approach to the main entrance. Violations can result in license revocation and misdemeanor charges. Residents can also report violations to SLC Business Licensing or police, providing the solicitor's license number when possible. This rule does not apply to canvassers exercising protected First Amendment activity such as religious or political outreach.
