St. Peters, MO Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Section 605.170 governs how a St. Peters owner or occupant refuses door-to-door solicitors. Subsection D requires notice of that refusal to be posted at or near the main entrance on a weatherproof card approximately three inches by four inches, with letters at least two inches tall, reading "No Solicitors Invited." The City supplies these cards free of charge to any resident who requests one, and posting the card is treated as sufficient notice to any peddler or solicitor of the property owner's wishes. Subsection E puts the obligation on the solicitor: before approaching any property in the City, whether licensed under Article III or not, the person must first look for a posted notice and follow what it says.

If it reads "No Solicitors Invited," the solicitor must immediately and peacefully leave, and failing to do so is itself a separate ordinance violation apart from soliciting without a license. Section 605.175 puts City Police in charge of enforcing this Article, directing officers to watch for violations and issue a summons whenever one is detected, whether or not a resident files a complaint, and the Municipal Court clerk reports convictions back to the City Clerk so a record is kept against each peddler/solicitor license on file.
