West Bloomfield, MI Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

West Bloomfield Township Code § 17-19(a) bars anyone from entering private residential or business property after the occupant has expressly told them not to, or where the premises display a sign reading "No Soliciting," "No Peddlers," "No Agents," "No Canvassing" or similar wording. Subsection (b) goes further: any resident or business owner may notify the Township Clerk in writing that they do not want commercial or noncommercial solicitation at their address, and the clerk maintains that address list as the official "no solicitation list." Anyone who registers must also post a physical sign on the property.

The clerk hands the current no-solicitation list to every applicant taking out a peddler, solicitor or vendor permit under Article II, and makes the list available to the public on request, so registered addresses are meant to be screened out before a canvasser starts a route. Section 17-20 layers a township-wide curfew on top of the opt-out list: no person soliciting, peddling, canvassing or distributing handbills may call at any residence before 9:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m., unless the occupant has specifically asked for a visit outside those hours.

Section 17-21 separately requires every canvasser to display a photo identification card naming the organization they represent, and Section 15-86's trespass provisions apply once a posted notice has been ignored.
