Wylie, TX Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Sec. 82-2(a) already bars door-to-door peddling, solicitation and handbill distribution at private residences after sunset until 9:00 a.m., and bans all solicitation on federal holidays without a prior invitation from the occupant. Subsection (b) adds the no-knock registry mechanism at the individual residence level: it is unlawful to solicit or distribute handbills in person where the occupant has said such activity is unwelcome, or where a card reading 'no solicitors' or 'no trespassing' is posted in a conspicuous place at or near the main entrance; the card's lettering must be at least two-thirds of an inch high and displayed on a weatherproof card at least three inches by four inches.

Subsection (c) scales the same idea up to gated communities: soliciting inside a gated community that posts 'no solicitors' or 'no solicitation' signs, at least one-and-a-half inches tall on an eight-by-twelve-inch weatherproof card, at every entrance is unlawful, though a solicitor may still call at a specific address if the resident submitted a written invitation, and may solicit only that address. Subsection (d) separately bans aggressive solicitation: approaching or following pedestrians, repeating a pitch after refusal, using abusive or profane language to intimidate, unwanted physical contact, or blocking traffic.

Subsection (e) adds location bans within 25 feet of an ATM, bank entrance or check-cashing business entrance, at a public transit stop, or aggressive solicitation anywhere in a public area. Sec. 82-3 further requires that any child solicitor 13 or younger be actively supervised by an adult within 100 yards.
