Coral Gables regulates door-to-door soliciting and peddling through its Code of Ordinances. Soliciting hours are restricted.
The Coral Gables Code of Ordinances regulates soliciting, peddling, and canvassing within city limits. Door-to-door solicitors and peddlers must obtain a permit from the city before conducting activities. The permit application requires valid government-issued identification, a description of the goods or services offered, and a background check. Charitable and nonprofit organizations may have separate requirements. Soliciting is restricted to reasonable daytime hours β generally prohibited before 9:00 AM and after sunset or 6:00 PM (whichever is later). Solicitors must carry their permit and display it upon request. Religious and political canvassing is protected under the First Amendment but may still be subject to time and manner restrictions. The city maintains a no-solicitation registry that solicitors must honor. Contact the Police Department at (305) 442-1600 for solicitor complaints or Code Enforcement at (305) 460-5216 for permit information.
Soliciting without a valid permit is a code violation subject to fines. Soliciting outside permitted hours or ignoring no-solicitation signs results in citations. Aggressive or fraudulent solicitation may result in criminal charges. The Coral Gables Police Department responds to solicitor complaints at (305) 442-1600.
