Peoria, AZ Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

City Code § 11-82 requires any solicitor, peddler, hawker, salesman, or vendor of goods, wares, merchandise, newspapers, magazines, or services who goes from house to house, or even to a single house, in the city to register with the Peoria Police Department and obtain a license showing that registration. § 41-1750, along with two photographs and a description of the products or services to be sold; the police department must complete its investigation within thirty days. Under § 11-84, the chief of police must issue the license unless the applicant has a criminal record, is associated with a company engaged in fraudulent dealings, or the sales pitch involves trickery, fraud, or deceit.

Section 11-85 requires the license be carried and shown to any resident on request, and § 11-86 lets the city revoke a registration for any violation of the chapter or for failing to pay taxes generated from the activity, with an appeal available under the chapter's general appeal process. These provisions were renumbered and updated by Ord. No. 2017-27 (2017) and further amended by Ord. No. 2020-10 (8-18-20).
