The old solicitation permit in section 12-62 is gone. Ordinance 18-O-17 rewrote that section in October 2018, and it now bans making physical contact with, or exchanging any item with, a driver or passenger in a lane of traffic, and bans standing on a median holding a sign for motorists to read. What survives is the street vendor permit in chapter 5, article III.
