Warrick County, IN Soliciting & Door-to-Door: Solicitor Permits (2026)

Warrick County Code § 110.03 makes it unlawful for any person to work as a peddler or solicitor in unincorporated Warrick County, Indiana without an unrevoked license issued by the county; the license cannot be transferred and must be carried and shown to any law enforcement officer or prospective purchaser on request. PEDDLER covers anyone traveling place to place or house to house carrying goods for immediate sale or delivery, while SOLICITOR covers anyone taking orders for future delivery of goods or services, and the Administrator of the Warrick County Board of Commissioners runs the licensing program.

Applicants must file a sworn application listing identifying information, a physical description and photograph, felony and misdemeanor conviction history, vehicle and insurance details if a vehicle is used, a $500,000 comprehensive general liability certificate, an Indiana Department of Revenue merchant certificate, and a Health Department food permit if food is involved. Licenses run only through December 31 of the year issued and cost $30 for a Friday-through-Sunday weekend, $50 for a Monday-through-Sunday week, $100 for up to a month, or $1,000 for up to a year, with fees deposited into the county's General Fund.

Licensed activity is confined to 9:00 a.m. through one hour before sunset. The Administrator can revoke a license after a Board of Commissioners hearing for fraud, false statements, breach of the peace, or a felony or public-safety misdemeanor conviction, and can suspend a license immediately on reasonable suspicion while charges are pending; a denied or revoked applicant has seven days to file a written appeal to the Board of Commissioners, whose decision is final. Exemptions cover wholesale-to-retail sales, businesses with a 12-month local presence, religious, school, political, and nonprofit solicitors, mail, online, and catalog delivery, local farmers selling their own produce, and news carriers.
