Cedar Park, TX Special Events & Permits: Block Party Permits (2026)

Cedar Park's special events ordinance defines a block party as one requiring neighborhood road closures and treats it like any other special event: a permit from the Development Services Department is mandatory unless a narrow exemption applies (§ 6.03.003). Applications generally must be filed 14 to 30 days ahead and normally cover parking, waste, and insurance. But the code carves out block parties that don't require City services, those are excused from the $500,000/$1,000,000 liability insurance requirement, the $2,000 surety bond, and the 10-day written notice to neighbors within 300 feet that larger special events must provide.
