Peoria, AZ Special Events & Permits: Parade Permits (2026)

Peoria City Code Section 14-189(a) defines "parade" broadly to cover any parade, march, ceremony, show, exhibition, pageant or procession of any kind, or any similar display, on a city street. Subsection (b) makes it unlawful to engage in, participate in, aid, form or start a parade without first obtaining a permit from the chief of police. Subsection (c) exempts funeral processions, students traveling to or from school under staff supervision, and a governmental agency acting within its own functions. Section 14-190(a) requires the application to be filed with the chief of police not less than five days nor more than thirty days before the proposed parade date, though subsection (c) lets the chief consider a late application where good cause is shown.

Subsection (b) lists what the application must include: the organizer's name and contact information, the sponsoring organization if any, the parade chairman responsible for conduct, the date and hours the parade will run, the route with starting and termination points, the approximate number of people, animals and vehicles involved and a description of them, whether the parade will occupy the full street width, the assembly area locations and times, the spacing planned between units, and written authorization if the applicant is applying on someone else's behalf.
