Cherry Hill, NJ Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 22-2 of the Revised General Ordinances sets up the Township's park special-event permitting scheme. 1, an applicant files with the Recreation Department stating their name and address, the sponsoring person or organization, the day and hours requested, the park or portion of a park wanted, and any other information the Department finds necessary to a fair decision. 2 lists the standards the Department applies: the activity must not unreasonably interfere with general public enjoyment of the park, must not detract from public health, welfare, safety or recreation, must not be reasonably anticipated to involve violence, crime or disorderly conduct, must not impose extraordinary or burdensome expense or police work on the Township, and the requested space or time must not already be reserved.

3 requires it to notify the applicant in writing of its reasons within five days, and gives any aggrieved applicant the right to appeal to the Township Council by serving written notice on the Township Clerk within five days of the refusal; the Council must then rule within ten days of receiving the appeal, and its decision is final. 4 makes every permittee bound by all park rules as though written into the permit, and lets the Recreation Department require proof of liability insurance before the activity or permit issuance. 5 lets the Department revoke a permit for a violation of any rule or ordinance, or for good cause shown.
