Fairfield, CA Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Fairfield Municipal Code § 12B.15, in Chapter 12B, requires a permit from the Director for exclusive use of any Park or Open Space Area facility or grounds, meaning any reservation that excludes other members of the public from that space, such as a group claiming a picnic area under Section 12B.8(b) or reserving a field for a private event. The Director must issue the permit if five findings are met: the activity won't unreasonably interfere with general public enjoyment of the area, won't detract from public health, welfare, safety, or recreation, isn't reasonably anticipated to incite violence, crime, or disorderly conduct, won't require unusual or burdensome expense or public-safety operations by the City, and the facility hasn't already been reserved for another use at the requested day and hour.

A permittee is bound by all applicable rules and ordinances as if written into the permit itself, and is liable for any loss, damage, or injury caused by the permittee's negligence. The Director can revoke the permit for a violation of any rule or ordinance, or for other good cause. Separately, Section 12B.9(a) requires a written permit at least 24 hours in advance just to bring or serve beer or wine at a park gathering, and any gathering of 25 or more people with an alcohol permit must also meet the City's insurance requirements; no alcohol is allowed in Rockville Hills Regional Park under any permit.
