Full Breakdown

Section 29-6(c) gives the director of parks and recreation authority to make rules governing applications for special event and activity permits on city park and recreation property, and on other property the city has permission to use for an event, such as City Center's Fountain Plaza or school board grounds. The department of engineering, not parks and recreation, issues permits for events on city streets and sidewalks outside park lands. Once council approves these rules, violating them is a Class 4 misdemeanor under Section 29-6(d).

Violations & Fines

Violating an approved special-event rule, or holding an event without the required permit, is a Class 4 misdemeanor under Section 29-6(d).
