Events in Phoenix parks require a Special Event Reservation from the Parks and Recreation Department. Gatherings of 50 or more, events with amplified sound, vendors, or commercial activity need advance permits.
The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department manages event permits for the city's 185+ parks. A Special Event Reservation Application is required for organized events with 50 or more attendees, amplified sound, vendors, food service, tents, stages, or commercial activity. Applications must be submitted to pks.events@phoenix.gov or by calling 602-262-6412. Large events (500+ projected attendance) also need a Public Outdoor Assembly Permit from the Fire Department. Ramada and pavilion reservations for smaller private gatherings are handled separately through the Parks reservation system. Park events with alcohol require a separate AZLL liquor license. Amplified sound must comply with city noise ordinances. Sports tournaments and athletic events have dedicated permit categories. The department charges facility rental fees based on the park, duration, and expected attendance. A damage deposit may be required.
Unauthorized events may be shut down by park rangers. Violations of park rules can result in trespass citations and fines. Damage to park facilities is charged to the permit holder or event organizer.
