Pocatello, ID Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 12.36.025 lets the Parks and Recreation Director accept reservations for any City park shelter, nonsports field, or the Community Recreation Center meeting room starting the first business day of each calendar year. An organization, group, individual, or business cannot reserve a park shelter or nonsports field portion of a park more than once a month during the April 15 to October 15 seasonal period, though it may add one extra day in that window; the Community Recreation Center meeting room is capped at once a month year-round with two additional days allowed.

No facility may be permanently rented or assigned to one user. The Director may approve or deny any request for unavailability of the requested time, hazardous facility conditions, scheduled maintenance or emergency repairs, an applicant's past rule violations, or an activity the Director finds inappropriate or against the City's interest. Carnival-type amenities such as bounce houses, dunk tanks, water slides, and laser tag are barred from City facilities unless the Director approves a single, privately attended event (a birthday party, church function, or family reunion) or a single- or multi-day special event, in which case additional fees and insurance may be required.

Once issued, a permit binds the holder to every park rule and City ordinance as though written into the permit itself (section 12.36.070), and the permittee is personally liable for any loss, damage, or injury caused by negligence during the reserved use (section 12.36.080). The Director or any police officer may revoke a permit on finding a violation of any rule or ordinance, or for other good cause (section 12.36.090).
