Smithtown, NY Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Section 101-18, 'Group permits,' most recently amended by Resolution No. 226-352 on 4-7-2026, requires groups of 11 or more persons to obtain a permit to use the Town's parks and beaches, payable under a published fee schedule that varies by facility and headcount, for example $125 for 11 to 50 people at a Town park facility or Schubert Beach and Hoyt Farm Pavilion, rising to $650 for a group of 401 to 500 using the whole Schubert's picnic area, with $100 added for each additional 100 people beyond that.

An adult Town resident must file the application with the Town Parks Maintenance Director, who issues the permit subject to conditions: the applicant accepts liability for the group's conduct and any resulting injuries or property damage, the group's activity is confined to the designated area, the permit does not grant exclusive use of the facility, every vehicle in the group needs a valid parking registration (with a $15-per-vehicle, per-day nonresident parking fee), the Director can require surrender of the permit for a violation or revoke it at any time, and the permit expires half an hour after sunset on the day it was issued.

Subsection B(8) folds in the alcohol permit: a group wanting to bring alcoholic beverages into a park or beach must apply to the same Director, who authorizes consumption only in designated picnic areas.
