The sponsor of a special event shall obtain temporary commercial vending permit for all commercial vending proposed to occur on public property or on public right-of-way as part of the special event of the sponsor. The sponsor shall submit to the city manager, or his designee, an application that shall identify each vendor participating in the special event.

Full Breakdown
City of Sarasota special-event sponsors must secure a temporary commercial vending permit covering every vendor before any street fair, festival or farmers market vending on public property or right-of-way. The sponsor's application must name each participating vendor and is submitted at least five working days ahead. Sponsors also carry public liability and property damage insurance covering all vendors. Each vendor must display the permit visibly on their booth, cart or stand during the event; nonprofit sponsors pay no application fee, while for-profit sponsors pay a set temporary vendor fee set by city resolution.
Violations & Fines
No commercial vending may occur during a special event without a temporary vending permit obtained through the sponsor's application; unpermitted vendors can be excluded from the event.
