Louisiana Fireworks Sale and Use Regulation

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal licenses fireworks distributors, wholesalers, jobbers, and retailers under Louisiana Revised Statutes 51:650 through 51:660. State law restricts retail fireworks sales to two periods annually (June 25 to July 5 and December 15 to January 1) and prohibits sales to anyone under 16. Only fireworks classified as consumer fireworks under federal CPSC standards may be sold. Display fireworks require separate permits. Local governments retain authority to ban or further restrict consumer fireworks within their jurisdiction.

Selling fireworks without a state license or to minors is a misdemeanor punishable by fines up to $500 and license revocation by the State Fire Marshal.
