Every family swimming pool in Lincoln holding eighteen inches or more of water must be completely surrounded by a fence or wall at least four feet high, with no openings, holes, or gaps larger than four inches.
Lincoln Municipal Code 8.36.020 requires a full enclosure around any family swimming pool eighteen inches or deeper. The barrier must be at least four feet tall with no gap over four inches; a picket fence may have no more than four-inch horizontal spacing. A dwelling house or accessory building may form part of the enclosure. Existing pools had thirty days from the ordinance's effective date to comply. The rule applies citywide to any owner, purchaser, lessee, or tenant in possession of the land.
It is unlawful to keep a family pool eighteen inches or deeper without the required fence or wall; violations are a municipal offense subject to citation.
