Chapter 93 covers any residential swimming pool deeper than two feet or with a surface area over 250 square feet on private property. Fairfield Town Code § 93-3 requires Director of Health approval followed by zoning and building permit issuance before construction, installation or alteration; fees under § 93-4 are set by the Plan and Zoning and Building Commissions. Plans submitted under § 93-5 must be drawn to scale showing dimensions, distances to lot lines and structures, water supply, drainage, and location of the sewage disposal system, with one copy going to the Director of Health and one to the Supervisor of the Building Inspection Department.

Before use, § 93-6 requires a certificate of use from the Building Inspection Department, issued only after the Director of Health's approval and a final inspection. The pool must also conform to the Town's zoning regulations under § 93-7. Design standards in § 93-8 require wall slopes no steeper than two feet horizontal to five feet vertical down to five feet depth, floor slopes no steeper than one foot vertical to seven feet horizontal at the transition point, and a stepped or ladder egress with handrails unless there are four or fewer steps.

An editor's note flags that the chapter's technical requirements are preempted by the Connecticut State Building Code (C.G.S. § 29-253), but the local approval and permit sequence and enclosure rule still apply.
