Chapter 150's subchapter on above-ground pools, spas and hot tubs (§§ 150.160-150.164 of the Hammond Code of Ordinances) governs residential pool installation citywide. Section 150.163 sets the permit fee at $25 and bars the Building or Zoning Department from issuing it until a location approval is completed, meaning the siting rules in § 150.161 are checked before the permit is granted. Section 150.161 requires pools to sit at least 3 feet from property lines and buildings and bans placement in the required front yard setback; overhead electric lines must clear the pool by 18 feet (10 feet for side lines, 14 feet where a deck or platform is installed), filter motor receptacles must be GFCI-protected, weatherproof, and at least 10 feet from the pool, and pools cannot sit over an electric line unless it runs in conduit raceway buried at least 18 inches deep.

Section 150.162 requires the pool be completely enclosed by a 6-foot fence with a locking gate, unless the pool itself is manufactured with a guardrail, in which case a locking ladder or gate kept upright when not in use substitutes for the fence. Section 150.164 requires the installer to hold a limited contractor's license under § 150.027. The subchapter applies only to above-ground pools, spas and hot tubs installed outdoors; in-ground pools are carved out and regulated instead under State Code 675 I.A.C. 20.
