Section 73.05(A) sets a hard 2-hour limit in any 24-hour period for parking a truck of 5,000 pounds or more, or a truck tractor, road tractor, farm tractor, trailer, semi-trailer, tank truck or pole trailer, on any street in the City of Hammond, Indiana, unless another provision of the code specifically prohibits truck parking on a given street, in which case that stricter rule controls. Subsection (B) goes further on a named residential corridor, banning trucks over 12,000 pounds and comparable tractors and trailers from parking on either side of Martha Street between Grand Boulevard and Nebraska Avenue and on Nebraska Avenue between Martha Street and 169th Street.

The 2-hour limit does not apply to a vehicle actually being used for work or services in the immediate area when no other suitable parking is available within a reasonable distance, but only for as long as the job takes; it cannot be used to justify indefinite parking. Subsection (D) singles out vacant property: any covered truck or trailer parked there is declared a public nuisance as a danger to health and safety, and the Hammond Police Department is authorized to enter the vacant property to impound or order the vehicle towed. A violation of § 73.05 is punished under § 73.99, which sets a minimum fine of $1,000 and a maximum of $2,500, with each violation treated as a separate offense.
