Tinley Park, IL Swimming Pools & Spas: Pool Permits (2026)

01 adopts the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (2012) as part of the Building Code of the Village of Tinley Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, governing how residential pools must be constructed. 07(M), Section 1300, sets the fee schedule for permits, reviews, inspections and service pertinent to certain buildings, structures or work, and Section 1404 fixes the swimming pool permit fee at $100 for an above-ground pool and $200 for an in-ground pool. That fee is separate from the plan-check and inspection fees charged for general building work under Section 1401, and from the $50 minimum plumbing inspection fee under Section 1402 that can apply if the installation involves new plumbing connections.

Owners must pay permit, plan-review and inspection fees to the Village before the Building Official issues the permit; the Building Official may waive a plan-check or filing fee at his or her discretion, though inspection fees cannot be waived without the inspector's approval. Because the adopted IPMC also regulates pools once built, an unused residential pool left undrained for 30 days or more must be either fully drained or covered and kept in good condition, and a pool left abandoned 60 days or more without being enclosed and winterized must be removed and the excavation filled to match the surrounding grade.
