Amarillo's Curbside Cart Collection Program requires residents to place trash carts near the curb with the handle facing the curb, arrows pointing toward the street, and at least five feet of clearance around the cart on all sides for automated truck access.
Under Amarillo's Solid Waste program, governed by Code Chapter 8-3 (Garbage, Trash and Weeds), residents served by automated curbside collection must position carts at the curb edge with the handle toward the curb and lid arrows facing the street. A minimum five-foot clearance must be maintained around each cart. Carts must be kept at least 12 feet away from low-hanging tree limbs or other overhead obstructions. Lids must remain closed; no extra bags may be stacked on or beside the cart. Prohibited items include hot ashes, concrete, tires, and materials making the cart too heavy for mechanical lift. Trash service runs twice weekly with adjustments for holidays.
Improper placement may result in missed collection. Persistent noncompliance is enforceable under Chapter 8-3. Contact Solid Waste at 806-378-6813 for missed service.
