Lodi requires trash, recycling, and green-waste carts to be stored on the side of the home behind the side-yard fence between collection days and placed at the curb only on or near the scheduled pickup day. Carts must rest on a hard, level surface for hauler access.
Per Lodi's published guidance and Waste Management collection requirements, residential carts must be stored out of public view between collections β typically on the side of the home, behind the side-yard fence. On collection day, carts should be placed at the curb with the wheels facing the home and the handles toward the street, at least 3 feet apart and away from cars, mailboxes, and low-hanging trees so the WM automated arm can reach them. Carts must be brought back from the curb within a reasonable period after collection. The City's Community Improvement Division can cite repeat violations under property-maintenance standards.
Leaving carts in public view between collections or in the right-of-way is a property-maintenance violation enforced by Community Improvement. First administrative citation is $100.
