Full Breakdown

Meridian's franchised hauler runs a fixed weekly residential collection schedule under City Code chapter 4-1. Carts must go to the alley or street curb-face, handle facing the house, no later than 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled day and no sooner than 24 hours ahead of it. Carts must sit at least 3 feet from obstructions such as parked cars, low trees, or utility poles, at least 10 feet from any mailbox or fire hydrant, and no more than 4 feet from the curb-face itself. Owners must pull empty carts back to within 5 feet of the home within 24 hours of pickup. Commercial properties face a separate rule requiring their collection containers to be screened from public streets.

Violations & Fines

Violating chapter 4-1 placement or collection standards is a misdemeanor under Meridian City Code section 4-1-13; the hauler may also skip a cart and leave a written noncollection notice explaining the problem instead of collecting it.
