The Street Department runs a free spring and fall yard waste pickup on request for city addresses. Furniture, mattresses, and appliances are not part of it; those go to the Bi-County landfill on Dover Road for a per-item fee.
Spring Clean-Up ran March 23 through May 1, 2026, and the prior fall round ran October 20 through November 10, 2025. Residents request pickup by calling the Street Department at 931-645-7464 or filing a SeeClickFix report. Paper bags and cardboard boxes work for clippings, leaves, and small limbs. Larger limbs must be cut to 8 feet or shorter and under 18 inches in diameter, placed within 10 feet of the roadway but not in the street, not blocking a drainage ditch or the view of traffic. Stumps and limbs cut by a commercial company are refused. Bi-County charges $10 each for mattresses, box springs, and freon appliances at the main landfill only.
Dumping refuse on any vacant or partially vacant lot violates section 8-202(3); filling a lot with anything but soil, rock, or stone needs a building official permit.
