Chapter 98 (Solid Waste), Β§Β§ 98-114, 98-115, and 98-118 govern bulk item collection. Large items that do not fit in the standard waste cart require a pink $5 Large Item sticker each. Appliances β refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, air conditioners, water heaters β require seven $5 stickers ($35 total). Extra full-cart trash bags need a $1 sticker each (max 33-gal, 40 lbs). Items must be at the curb by 7 AM on collection day. Appliance pickup must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling (515) 283-4950. Stickers are sold at City Hall, Hy-Vee, Fareway, and other local grocers.
Items without required stickers will not be collected. Improperly disposed bulk items left in the right-of-way without stickers may be cited as a solid waste violation under Ch. 98 and Β§ 1-15, with misdemeanor-level civil penalties.
