Floyd County, GA Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

The Rome-Floyd County solid waste program, not curbside trash haulers, handles brush and yard debris removal in unincorporated Floyd County. Sec. 2-7-65 defines "yard debris" as tree limbs, trunks, branches, cuttings, shrubs and bushes up to twelve feet long taken from the yard immediately surrounding the property owner's dwelling; it excludes household garbage, pine straw, grass clippings and stumps, and a "load" is fixed at twenty-two cubic yards. Sec. 2-7-66 requires the property owner to stack debris in neat, separate piles directly behind the county right-of-way adjacent to their street, butt ends of limbs and trunks all facing the same direction, never in gutters, drainage ditches, walkways or roads.

The owner must call the department to schedule a pickup; an agent inspects the pile, quotes any fee, and the department works requests first come, first served. The department will only collect from property that actually touches a Floyd County right-of-way, and it can refuse material that does not meet the yard-debris definition. Free pickups are capped at one per quarter per property owner. Sec. 2-7-67 sets the fee scale for anything beyond the free tier: no charge under three cubic yards, one hundred dollars for a load between three and ten cubic yards, and one hundred fifty dollars for any load over ten cubic yards or for each additional load regardless of size, payable in advance to the department before the truck runs.
