Floyd County, GA Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Under Floyd County Code § 2-7-51, the solid waste director administers and enforces Article III of Chapter 2-7, controlling facilities, equipment and personnel and organizing the county's publicly owned collection, transportation and disposal system. The director also inspects and regulates private collectors and private disposal systems for compliance, and every action of the director is subject to review by the county manager. Anyone unhappy with a requirement or fee the director sets can appeal to the Board of Commissioners, which can confirm, modify or revoke it after a hearing.

An advisory committee of five members, two private collectors and three citizens serving staggered two-year terms and appointed by the Board of Commissioners, recommends regulations and landfill operating guidelines under §§ 2-7-53 and 2-7-54. Commercial haulers must hold a county license costing $120 a year, prorated monthly for a first-year applicant, under §§ 2-7-59 and 2-7-60; incidental haulers making six or fewer landfill trips a year register for free. § 15-10-63 returnable to magistrate court, per § 2-7-52.
