Single-family customers in Pleasanton get three on-call bulky item pickups per year through Pleasanton Garbage Service, scheduled by calling (925) 846-2042. Service is provided within seven business days, up to 5 cubic yards, covering furniture, mattresses, carpets, tires, appliances and e-waste. Illegal dumping of waste is prohibited.
Pleasanton residents dispose of large items through the franchised hauler's bulky item program rather than placing them at the curb on regular collection days. Pleasanton Garbage Service (PGS) provides single-family residential customers three on-call Bulky Item Pickups per year, scheduled at the customer's convenience by calling (925) 846-2042. On-call collection is provided within seven business days of the request unless the customer requests otherwise. Accepted materials include furniture, carpets, mattresses, tires, white goods (large appliances), brown goods (electronics/furniture-type goods) and e-waste, with the load not to exceed 5 cubic yards. Residents must place bulky items at the curb without blocking the sidewalk or impeding traffic. Multi-family properties have their own bulky-item arrangements through PGS. Separately, the Municipal Code (Chapter 9.20) makes it unlawful to dump, place or bury garbage, trash, rubbish, manure or waste matter in any lot, land, street, alley or other public place, so abandoning bulky items illegally is a code violation and can also be a property-maintenance/blight matter for Code Enforcement. Residents with more than three pickups' worth of material, or items outside the accepted list, should contact PGS for options or use a permitted disposal facility.
Illegally dumping or abandoning bulky items on any lot, land, street, alley or public place is unlawful under Chapter 9.20 and can be cited as blight under Chapter 9.28. Items left at the curb outside the scheduled bulky-pickup program, blocking sidewalks, or exceeding the 5-cubic-yard limit may not be collected. Residents are limited to three on-call bulky pickups per year for single-family service.
