Single-family residents receive one free Enhanced On-Call/Bulky Item Clean-Up pickup per 12-month period from their franchised hauler. Additional pickups require pre-paid tags or scheduling fees.
Under the City's franchise agreements implementing SLMC Chapter 3-6, single-family residential customers are entitled to one free bulky item collection per 12-month period through their assigned franchised hauler (ACI or WMAC). The Enhanced On-Call/Bulky Item Clean-Up Program covers items that do not fit in the regular cart β furniture, mattresses, large appliances, etc. β subject to program rules on item type and quantity. Hazardous waste (paint, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, treated wood, pressurized tanks) is NOT accepted in bulky pickup and must be taken to the Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste facility (1-800-606-6606 / StopWaste.org/hhw). Additional bulky pickups beyond the annual allotment require customers to purchase pre-paid tags/bags or arrange paid additional service directly with the hauler.
Setting out bulky items without scheduling a pickup, or placing prohibited items (hazardous waste, treated wood, construction debris) at the curb, is treated as illegal dumping under SLMC Chapter 3-1 and California Penal Code Β§374.3 β see the Illegal Dumping section for fine ranges.
