Green Bay, WI Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Under Municipal Code § 32-2(a), the Department picks up residential and commercial waste weekly at no charge, capped at one 96-gallon tipper cart per property or dwelling unit, whichever is greater; the cart must be City-purchased and all refuse must fit with the lid fully closed, or it is left uncollected outside of City-designated exception periods. on collection day, and must come back in within 12 hours afterward, or the City may issue a citation. Carts themselves cannot sit within 15 feet of the public right-of-way between collection days and must be screened from street view or stored in a backyard or garage with lids closed (§ 32-2(g)(5)i).

Residents who miss a pickup or generate more than the cart holds can request a special dispatch under § 32-2(c): the City bills the hourly labor rate plus truck and administration charges, with a three-tenths-hour minimum, and unpaid invoices become a property lien under Wis. 0627 after 30 days. The City also runs two free bulky-item collection periods a year (up to two cubic yards per residence) and four free overflow periods a year (up to four 32-gallon bags outside the cart); outside those windows, standard per-item charges apply.

The Director of Public Works enforces the chapter and the Chief of Police must report any violation encountered in writing under § 32-6(a); the Director may also refuse further collection service to a household that will not comply.
