Full Breakdown
2-26. Businesses in the Central Business District that do not have exterior space for a commercial dumpster instead receive collection twice a week, reflecting the higher waste volume of a dense downtown footprint. 2-19. 2-26, the city collects refuse from eligible residential and small detached commercial establishments abutting a public street and certain multi-family properties with four or fewer living units; placing solid waste curbside on your scheduled collection day is treated as a request for city service. Properties with five or more living units, attached businesses, mixed-use developments, large restaurants and manufacturing businesses are not eligible for city collection and must arrange private hauling instead. 2-31, with Central Business District accounts on the twice-a-week schedule billed double the standard monthly disposal fee to reflect the added service.
Violations & Fines
Placing curbside trash out on a day other than your assigned collection day, or a multi-family or CBD property exceeding its container limits per collection, violates the chapter's service provisions and can trigger a service or penalty fee under Section 21.2-26(h), including a minimum $250.00 service fee plus any additional city costs when refuse must be removed out of cycle.
