Midland, TX Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Midland's solid waste division collects household garbage, trash and yard trimmings twice each week, either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, per City Code § 8-6-7 (set by Ordinance 6199 in 1983 and recompiled into the current code by Ordinance 7764 in 1998). 00 per additional collection. 50 monthly recycling surcharge under § 8-6-8(G)-(H); those rates last stepped up two percent on February 1 of 2017, 2018 and 2019 under § 8-6-8(K). Only the container the City furnishes may be used at a serviced address, and building material, rocks, bricks, junk metal or dirt heavy enough to overload the truck must instead be hauled to the landfill by the owner (§ 8-6-2, § 8-6-8(E)).

It is unlawful to place trash in a City container without paying the assessed charge, and no one but the resident, the resident's agent, or a City- or state-licensed hauler may remove material from a refuse or recycle container (§ 8-6-8(C), (F)). The Customer Services Department bills these charges on the monthly utility statement due by the delinquency date set in § 3-1-4; anyone without a water account gets a separate monthly bill on the same terms (§ 8-6-11). Collection outside the city limits runs one and one-half times the in-city rate and is provided only at the discretion of the solid waste superintendent (§ 8-6-10).
