Norwalk, CA Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Norwalk does not let residents opt out of trash service. 280 makes collection mandatory: except for narrow exclusions elsewhere in the chapter (self-haulers with a valid permit and owners of vacant property, among others), every residential owner and commercial or industrial business owner must use the City's authorized collector and pay the fees the City Council approves, and no one may contract with, or attempt to collect from, a different hauler for a fee. 450 sets the pickup schedule itself: the residential collector follows a route and day schedule approved by the City Manager for each collection district, and unless the City Council approves otherwise, both solid waste and recyclables must be collected no less than once each calendar week, with the City Manager holding authority to let no more than seven days elapse between any two pickups of either stream.
